Pilot: Flesh-Eating Roller Derby Queens
Stage Play: Damaged Airways
Logline: Seattle is under quarantine during the zombie apocalypse, and it falls to The Seattle Slaughter (the local roller derby team) to distribute military supplies to the human survivors in this comic-book style drama. Flesh-Eating Roller Derby Queens is currently seeking representation.
In my current play in progress, Damaged Airways, I explore the stories of historical and over shadowed women in science. The play features a series of connected vignettes about these women, including Ada Lovelace, Lise Meitner, Alice Ball, and Chien-Shiung Wu. Connecting these vignettes are scenes that happen NOW. They are set in a cystic fibrosis research facility where Rachel, Nhung, and Mara work. (Unbeknownst to the others, Rachel is also a cystic fibrosis patient.) Over the course of the play, the lines between history and the present blur as Rachel and her co-workers draw on the lessons of their historical counterparts to deal with the gravity of their research and their male boss' God complex. Damaged Airways is currently seeking development opportunities.
Children's Lit: Ivan, Joe, And The Magical Unicycle
A collaboration between myself and elementary educator Kathleen Elizabeth Kreisel, these children's stories teach animal science and social norms through the stories of Ivan the turtle and Joe the polar bear: a pair of unlikely friends who travel the world on a magical unicycle, meeting lots of other animals along the way! Ivan, Joe, and The Magical Unicycle is currently seeking representation.
